Weekly Reflection for 2/14/2021

2 Kings 2:1-12

Psalm 50:1-6

2 Corinthians 4:3-6

Mark 9:2-9

In the name of justice, one desires the abatement of hurtful behaviors.  One impatiently awaits God to unleash righteous anger against unmentionable actions. “Cast it away, God!” is a heart response. But friends, these actions and behaviors are but expressions of people.

“Cast them away God?” Could the hands of Yahweh be washed of a creation intentionally shaped, who breathe the Zoe of life? Let us cast that thought away. All are summoned to the Presence who shines forth that all may see a Holy reflection.  A mighty God who saves and whose love transforms.  God unveils the irresistible light of Truth.

Truth speaks. It is the darkness who demands the cover of silence so that shame and hurt can echo. The One who loves speaks tender mercies and graces. Beloved, please listen today  – “Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told to you from the beginning?” (Isaiah 40:21). “I, even I am he who blots outs your transgressions for my own sake” (Isaiah 43:25). “I am the Lord God your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. (Isaiah 41:13).

Friends, let’s entrust ourselves to God, the One who judges justly.  Do not go silent before the darkness in impatience and disappointment. Our call is to unmute ourselves. To open our hearts to worship and praise in truth. To open our mouths to pray and eyes to watch for the healing of our land. To incline our ears to listen to the heavens who proclaim God’s justice day by day.
