John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And people from the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. Now John was clothed with camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. He proclaimed, “The one who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thong of his sandals. I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.”
세례요한이 이르러 광야에서 죄 사함을 받게하는 회개의 세례를 전파하니 온 유대 지방과 예루살렘 사람이 다 나아가 자기 죄를 자복하고 요단강에서 그에게 세례를 받더라 요한은 약대털을 입고 허리에 가죽띠를 띠고 메뚜기와 석청을 먹더라 그가 전파하여 가로되 `나보다 능력 많으신 이가 내 뒤에 오시나니 나는 그의 신들메를 풀기도 감당치 못하겠노라 나는 너희에게 물로 세례 주었거니와 그는 성령으로 너희에게 세례를 주시리라'
그 때에 예수께서 갈릴리 나사렛으로부터 와서 요단강에서 요한에게 세례를 받으시고 곧 물에서 올라 오실새 하늘이 갈라짐과 성령이 비둘기같이 자기에게 내려 오심을 보시더니 하늘로서 소리가 나기를 `너는 내 사랑하는 아들이라 내가 너를 기뻐 하노라' 하시니라
照这话，约翰来了，在旷野施洗，传悔改的洗礼，使罪得赦。 犹太全地和耶路撒冷的人都出去到约翰那里，承认他们的罪，在约旦河里受他的洗。 约翰穿骆驼毛的衣服，腰束皮带，吃的是蝗虫野蜜。 他传道说：“有一位在我以后来的，能力比我更大，我就是弯腰给他解鞋带也是不配的。 我是用水给你们施洗，他却要用圣灵给你们施洗。”
那时，耶稣从加利利的拿撒勒来，在约旦河里受了约翰的洗。 他从水里一上来，就看见天裂开了，圣灵仿佛鸽子，降在他身上。 又有声音从天上来，说：“你是我的爱子，我喜悦你。”
God of grace and glory,
you call us with your voice of flame
to be your people, faithful and courageous.
As your beloved Son
embraced his mission in the waters of baptism,
inspire us with the fire of your Spirit
to join in his transforming work.
We ask this in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
