Chapel Devotionals

1 John 3:1-2, 23-24

See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.

And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit that he has given us.

Abiding God,

your presence has remained with your people through all time and space.

You speak and the mountains tremble at your greatness.

You move and the seas roar your praise.

You welcome us into fellowship and speak to us through your Holy Spirit.

Sometimes we lack the patience to be still and know you.

Strengthen us, we pray, for the days ahead.

     We are tired, Lord.

     We are weary, Lord.

Be with us now and restore our souls,

so that we may forever have your praise in our hearts and on our lips.

In Jesus’ name, we pray,

Amen.
